CDT for 3.0M5 ? [message #86593] Sat, 22 November 2003 08:32 Go to next message

The update site for CDT
http://update.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/updates/builds/2.0 says the packages
are not compatible with M5 (they worked against M4). I suppose this is an
expected situation .. when should we expect CDT builds for M5?

Weeeeeeee!

Which means next automated build will work again with M5 then. I guess I
should subscribe to the MLs sometime.

No need to subscribe to the mailing list, we should be making these
announcements here for you folks as well.

CDT 2.0 M5 is now available and runs with Eclipse 3.0 M5. An official
announcement will follow shortly.

Doug

Huh?

I've been trying so hard to get this 2.0M5 to work with my new shiny
eclipse 3.0M5 without any sucess. I dropped that into my eclipse,
restarted, and nothing happens. No error, nothing. And eclipse
does not show the new plugins either.

I really love my shiny Eclipse M5, especially on Linux. But the
two most needed tools do not work: GEF and CDT. Bugger...

Could anyone give a hint on how to make this work?

OS: Mandrake Linux 9.2
Java: Sun JDK 1.4.2
Eclipse: 3.0M5 (tried a couple of nightlies without any success)
GEF : 2.1.2 (also tried some nightlies, no luck either)
CDT : 2.0M5 (no luck, with a combination of Eclipse nightlies)

Thanks for any help. I want this shiny Eclipse M5, it's much
nicer on Linux.

Did you read the requirements on the GEF site? It states Eclipse 3.0M4(!),
NOT 3.0M5!

CDT should work, when you change one minor bug one of the fragment.xml files.
I posted this already on the newsgroup and in bugzilla, so go for it.

Did you download the proper build for 3.0M5? On
http://www.eclipse.org/cdt/ click download. Then, on the middle of the
page, you see a table with different builds. Choose the following:
CDT 2.0 M5 for Linux/GTK2 -- R3.0 M5 -- 2.0 M5 - Linux (GTK2)

That worked without problems for me.

When plugins are not found, it is sometimes a permissions problem. Make
sure the user can read and access all plugin directories:

In the eclipse/ directory, type
chmod -R u+rx plugins
