However sitting in the eclipse RCP application using the Platform
singleton, I cannot seem to reach the HookRegistry to attach a listener.

Hi,

I think that this will explain the things:

Be careful with this API, it is usually not a good idea to use it except
you know what you do. You can post what you try to achieve, there may
exist better practice.
