Marketplace, MPC and multi-feature solutions [message #758019] |

Hello
In the marketplace I have two solutions that share a common feature.
Both solutions are served from the same update site.
The Setup in the marketplace is as follows:
Solution 1:
ch.netcetera.eclipse.common.feature
ch.netcetera.eclipse.workspaceconfig.feature
Solution 2:
ch.netcetera.eclipse.common.feature
ch.netcetera.eclipse.projectconfig.feature
With this setup, I observed that when a user installs one of the
solutions, the other solution is considered as being "installed" in
the MPC too. In fact, however, only the common part of the second
solution is installed. I assume this behavior is somehow triggered
with the shared feature.
Is my setup wrong? Should the common feature not be listed explicitly?
Any hints welcome!
Thanks
Michael
PS: I used Eclipse 3.8.0 I20111027-1800 with MPC 1.1.1.I20110907-0947.

Hi Michael,
you might want to consider only listing the "branding" features on the marketplace instead of the common feature.
But given the user experience, I'll take a look at this scenario and see if we can do anything about it in MPC (or push it to p2 in case that's where the problem is).
I've opened the following bug for further insights. Please add yourself to the cc list, currently planning to look into this next week.
364414: multi-featured are shown as installed if one part is installed

Best Regards,
Benjamin
