I have text files 65K+ lines long, mostly a table of Unicode characters.
Editing response is very slow sometimes with 30 seconds or so lockouts and occasional crashes.
I start Eclipse with -Xmx700, the largest Eclipse will start with on my machine.

Sometimes Eclipse says it is crashing but then hangs trying to shutdown.
I then need to kill it with the Windows task manager.

Any suggestions?

Some problems around long lines got fixed in the recent release. If you
are not using 3.7.1 or 4.1.1 then I suggest to upgrade. If you then
still see the issue, please report a bug against SWT with some stack
traces taken while waiting.
