Well, in order to make an android app, should I learn basic java code? Or is there some other type of code that coding apps requires? I would like to learn how to make an app and the java for video games, but I'm not sure if the code is the same, or what.

I got a book: Java: a Beginner's Guide by Herbert Schildt
Will that help me? Or do I need something else? Thanks in advance! Razz

The below link states that android apps are written in java.

Okay, so it won't let me post a link here until I've made 5 posts, so to get to the link, go to google and search for "making apps for android". It's the first non-paid for result and it's titled: "The Developer's Guide | Android Developers"

There are many ways to learn java but I suggest you follow this guide. A very quick look at it makes me think it's a good one that you'll find useful. If you need to learn more about java than is in there and you aren't finding your book satisfactory, there are MANY websites out there with tutorials ranging from simple to advanced. Just google 'em and any questions you have Smile

Usually works for me. I'm also a newbie (though a bit ahead of you, I think).

Start with the first tutorial link at
http://www.vogella.de/android.html. Lars' tutorials are simply the cat's
meow. You can't go wrong.

I'm sure you can figure out how to work around the fact that you have to
remove the period to make the resulting link work. (The link made as
received by those of us using NNTP to work this forum isn't wrong, but
neither does the surreptitious addition of a dot break the usefulness of
a post.)

Ugggggg. Still can't find anything about the AVD. I've even tried the google android forums, but my post won't even pop up! It's as if it never existed. Does anybody know where I can look?
