Hi.
I have searched in the news-archive, but I apology if I have missed
something.
I am using Eclipse 2.1.0 (build 200303272130) on MS Win2k with Sun JDK
1.4.1. To heat up my life a little I run CVSNT 1.11.1.3. Since I
distribute to other platforms, I have chosen to use LF (and not CRLF) as
new-line character in the repository.
To avoid "file-wide" diffs I would like to use LF in the Eclipse editor
as well.
In the "Eclipse team cvs 2.1 faq", dated March 27, 2003
at "Windows Issues", the start-up flags "-vmargs -Dline.separator=\n"
are suggested. Together with the nice comment "don't no if there any ill
side affects". I gave it a try. But then Eclipse no longer has any
projects ("empty" each time). Restarting Eclipse without the flags does
not bring them back, need to re-create them (no prob since it detects
the files anyway). Probably some configuration being "damaged" at
reading or writing with just LF on MS Windows.
Another idea is to run the ant-task "fixcrlf" on the files before they
are commited. But the Eclipse editor saves them anyway with CRLF.
I am aware that CVS is clever enough to detect what OS the client is
using and convert the new-lines correctly at commit/update. Even if I
dislike it, I might use CRLF at the cvs-client. But I have failed to
find out how to make Eclipse ignore whitespaces when running diffs.
Best regards
