What UML modelers are best suited to build ATL-Compatible models? I was
using Papyrus, but looks like they dropped the built-in ATL support...

Hi,

You can use all UML modelers based on Eclipse MDT/UML2
(http://wiki.eclipse.org/MDT-UML2-Tool-Compatibility) like Papyrus
( http://wiki.eclipse.org/ATL_Howtos#How_can_I_transform_UML_m odels.3F).

For Papyrus, there was a set of ready-to-use transformations but you can
still use UML models created with it in ATL transformations.

Regards,
Freddy.
