Hi,

I am searching for an eclipse plugin for use with J2EE and
Application-Server(s)

The only ones I found on the net are the JBoss-IDE and the Lomboz
plugin. With the later I have problems downloading ... I registered, got
an email with download instructions but the downloaded file is 0 KB in size.

I also have found a lomboz-project on sourceforge, but that is version
0.9 and I had some problems using it.

Can anyone give me a hint on how to download the right plugin?

Or is there any other _good_ (and free) J2EE Plugin for Eclipse?

Thanks in advance!

Christian

why dont you try www.myeclipseide.com ? They want 30$ per year, which is
basically free IMO. There is also strecl.sourceforge.net, which used
to be commercial but was abandoned..

Hi,

I need this plugin for a study-project I have to do at university and
actually I do not plan to pay for it just to be able to complete my
project ;-)

But thanks anyways for your answer.

MyEclipseIDE is actually free for 30 days. Do you think that would be long
enough to complete your project?

I am afraid not ... the project is scheduled for 3 months. But I will
give the jboss-ide / or lomboz plugin a second try.

Thanks anyways

FWIW, the Lomboz plugin worked for me. I like its JSP editor, but it
doesn't do a good job of debugging JSP projects in-place. I think you
have to deploy them to your server's directory and debug them there.
You also have to edit the server's config file by hand.

The sysdeo plugin does a nice job of starting and stopping Tomcat and
automatically updating its config files to enable JSP debugging straight
out of your project directory. Lately I've been experimenting with
using the two plugins in combination: Lomboz for editing and sysdeo for
launching/debugging.

I'm going to try out MyEclipseIDE next, though. It sounds like it's
more integrated, and doing the debugging via JSR45 is the way to go.

Hey, what's $30 compared to the cost of textbooks these days? :-)

I am using Lomboz with my Eclipse 2.1, and I don't have any problem
whatsoever. I have to go thru several menus in order to set up a J2EE
project and it recognizes my JBoss server. Now when I develop a JSP project
for example, all I have to do is select "deploy" and voila, it puts all the
right files in the right places for me, and the web page is up and running.
The JSP editor is great. I really love this plug in.

Maybe you should try and download another one. Make sure you don't have a
firewall or something that is blocking the download. Good luck.
