cdt on linux ppc [message #81010] Wed, 24 September 2003 23:28 Go to next message

Just tried it on my mac. Having recompiled two libraries, cdt 1.1 runs
like a bell.

Cheers,

Paul

Have you tried to debug something?

Thanks,
Mikhail

I didn't try debugging, it looked promising, though. I#m currently
having trouble with eclipse itself on the ppc. Unfortunately I can't
play with it right now. I#ll try later.

Porting to the Mac is on my to do list (as soon as my new G5 arrives :-).
Did you have to make any changes to the libraries to get them to compile?

Cheers,
Doug

I frequently build eclipse, including the CDT, on Linux PPC.
(Not the same as a "Mac", but the OP asked about this platform...)

We needed some tweaks to the native build stuff, but as I recall,
nothing in the code. I think these patches are in the public cvs, at
least for the CDT (not the core).

We've also built eclipse 2.0 on x86-64 and IA-64 (we wrote a 64-bit
SWT port, but that hasn't been carried forward to 2.1).

I haven't done much testing on any platforms other than x86.

Aside from the 64-bit-uncleanliness, I think all the Linux ports are
basically going to look the same. I wouldn't expect much trouble in a
port to any of them.
