Does BIRT have any visual representation of the ROM that can be used as a
high level road map to the ROM objects? I do not think that a fully
realized set of UML documentation is needed, but a high level of the major
object types and their relations would be very helpful.

Scott,
No such diagram yet exists, but I agree that such a presentation would be
very helpful. I'll suggest that it go into the next revision of the specs.
The closest, at the moment, are the two tables at the end of the "ROM SPEC"
file. One shows the containment rules of visual items, the other shows the
usage of style properties. They don't completely answer for what you're
looking for (they don't include non-visual items, for example), but they are
a start.
Thanks,
- Paul
