I am having an issue when a node is selected, I am unable to deselect it by click the background/white space on the graph. The only way I can currently do it is by crtl + clicking, or by selecting another node. I would like it so that if I want to deselect the current node is to simply click the background/whitespace on which the nodes are displayed.

I would greatly appreciate some direction as to where this can be resolved.

Thanks!

If this is about Zest, it is a bug that is fixed in the repositories and should work in future builds.

You can install the latest nightly build from https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/job/gef-zest-nightly/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/targetPlatform/

There's some more information available on the wiki: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Zest

I am using the version 1.*, you have pointed me at the 2.* version which break most of the api we are using to work with it. Is there a mirror for 1.* version?

The fix is in the latest integration build of 1.x, which can be downloaded here:

http://modeling.eclipse.org/gef/downloads/drops/3.8.0/I201110202050/GEF-zest-sdk-I201110202050.zip

About API breakage I'd be very interested in details. We are documenting changes here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Zest#Migration_from_Zest_1.x_to_Zest_2.x

Do you have issues that are not mentioned in that section? If you have, it would be great to hear about them so we can ease the transition.
