Hi

I successfully installed xdebug which works correctly (I'm using PDT 2
and ganymede under Linux);

however, when I create a debug configuration, although I correctly set
all the parameters, the internal web browser does not start automatically.

I can debug a web page only if I manually insert in the web browser the
same url plus the string ?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=ECLIPSE_DBGP

why this is not done automatically?

thanks in advance
Lorenzo

It should do this, what parameters are put into the url field for the browser ?
are you sure your launch configuration specifies xdebug ?
Have you tried configuring PDT to use an external browser to see if that helps ?
(window-->preferences, select general, web browser to configure). Eclipse does seem to have problems
at times with internal browser selection.
