diagrams of the metamodel in SVG [message #7060] Tue, 20 February 2007 04:06 Go to next message

Hi,

It would be great if the OCL team made available SVG diagrams depicting the
contents of OCL.ecore (and its Ecore and UML specializations) much like the
Ecore MM is displayed in the Javadoc for org.eclipse.emf.ecore.

Regards,

Miguel

Hi, Miguel,

That's a good idea, especially as there are EMF-ish details in these models
that are not prescribed by the OCL specification.

Would you mind raising an enhancement request? Or probably just adding a
comment to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=156360 would be
more appropriate.

Is SVG commonly supported by web browsers? Or would it be more appropriate
to include GIFs with hyperlinks to SVGs for those that can view them?

Cheers,

Christian

Chris,

I've added the following comment to that bug:

A GIF or PNG version would do for the Javadoc, but a vector-format version
(for
example SVG) is also needed, to eanble a more consistent depiction of MDT
OCL
concepts in papers and reports written by users.

I'm not suggesting SVG for web-browser visualization but as input to
open-source
digram editors such as Inkscape, http://www.inkscape.org/ . From there,
format
conversions towards EPS, PDF, and other formats frequently used in
publishing
are possible.

Thanks, Miguel.

It's a good thing that GMF has SVG export support out-of-the-box :-)

Cheers,

Christian
