Is there a Flexible Project tutorial? [message #78627] Tue, 01 March 2005 09:58 Go to next message

For the life of me I cannot find where the flexible project stuff is. I
know if I create a new project, I can check box the flexible project
support. This creates the file .wtpmodules and bunch of new builders to
..project file. I see how that seems to work, but I don't see where I set
these setting within Eclipse. Nor have a found a way to convert or turn
this functionality on for an existing project. The only way I can see to
do this right now is to hand edit these files.

Is a tutorial or something that explains flexible projects?

Regards,

Jeff Duska

Please tell me this going to be much easier when the GUI part is done. I
am assuming that you are planning to integrate this into the UI.

Hi Jeff,

Absolutely, In M3 we planned on exposing this support on an "experimental"
basis, with little to no UI. Because this work will ripple across many
dependent component teams, we needed to retain the existing project
structure for M3.
M4 we plan on deprecating the existing j2ee project Natures and builders,
and migrate to the ModuleCore api. The existing creation/import/export
wizards, will also be altered to manage "Module types" rather than
projects.

Please look at our current M4 milestone plan for more details, and we
would love your input and ideas, as more detailed proposals are released.

Thanks - Chuck
