Hi RAP application developers,
we're currently working on improving the UI styling capabilities of RAP.
Those of you who desperately wait for more flexibility in this field, might
want to check out the recent changes:
* Control get/setBackgroundImage allows to set background images on almost
all controls.
* Composite get/setBackgroundMode makes child widgets inherit the parent's
background color and image (transparency).
* Shell get/setAlpha allows for semi-transparent shells, which is also
particularly useful for placing a shading layer below a dialog window.
Moreover, we added *experimental* transparency support to the theming. It is
now possible to specify the keyword "transparent" to some background
properties in a custom theme (as denoted in the theme-template.properties
file).
Another feature that has often been requested is the possibility to apply a
widget style in a custom theme to a certain set of widgets only. This is
now possible using widget variants (comparable to CSS classes). For more
details, check out the updates in the help project. This feature also
affects the Javascript code in appearance files, so custom widget
developers might also want to have a look at the updates.
More theming improvements will follow, such as adding more theming
properties for more widgets.
I hope this already makes some custom widgets obsolete :)
Cheers,
Ralf

Qooxdoo will support rounded corners in its next version 0.8, which is not
released yet and will be too late for RAP 1.1. However, RAP 1.2 is
scheduled for Sep 2008 and will include qx 0.8 and rounded corner support.
Best regards,
Ralf
