when trying to run the run-time workbench, with no properties for the
error message, and I noticed the same behavior of the regular workbench's
preferences page showing up blank the first time then not at all after
that. This was all using Eclipse 2.1.1 on Windows XP (same java version
as Charalampos, though, 1.4.1_03).
The problem went away when I renamed my main Eclipse directory (and it
continues to work having renamed it back). Can anyone think of why this
would be?

P.S. I had Eclipse 2.1.0 around, and it worked fine the whole time while
2.1.1 wasn't working.
