Assume I have installed (portable) Eclipse into folder

D:\java\projectdev\Eclipse\

can I rename the last folder or move the installation folder to another location e.g.

D:\dev\java\Eclipse\

of cause without causing problems with Eclipse?

Or is the initial installation fodler somehwere stored (forever) e.g. in *.ini files or registry of (plugin) config files?

This which would make Eclipse installation unmoveable

Eclipse isn't "installed" in any real sense (i.e.: it doesn't use the
registry). It merely lives in whatever folder you dropped (or exploded)
it into. The only consequence of then moving it somewhere else is that
if you've any shortcuts pointing at it, they'll break.

My plugins stopped working after I moved an installation.

This is not true of most plug-ins--including none that I use.
