Analysis rules problem [message #75351] Wed, 28 June 2006 01:31 Go to next message

Hi

I have installed the runtime package for all tptp parts according to the
installation guide and wanted to try out the code analysis part. However,
I have encountered a problem with the Analysis configurations. For some reason,
the Analysis Domains and Rule tab is empty. And I guess, as a consequence
of that, performing an analysis will generate a launch error.

Is there anyone that have experienced the same problems?

/Berndt

Which version are you trying to use? If it is 4.1 I don't believe there were
any rules shipped with the analysis framework. In 4.2 there are 71 rules
for Java and approximately 25 for C++ (added as a separate plugin).

Hello Steve,

I am using the 4.1.0.1 release and I did not realize that I have to all the
rules manually.
I downloaded the 4.2 release today and got a bit further. The domain tab
contains one entry for "Code Review for Java", but still no rules. Do you
know of a location for getting a set of rules plugin or any guideline for
creating these rules?

Really apreciate any help on this, thank you.

/Berndt

Can you not expand "Code Review for Java" and see several categories and 71
rule?

Look in you plugins directory to ensure that you have a plugin named
org.eclipse.tptp.platform.analysis.codereview.java.rules (probably a jar
file).

Actually you shouldn't even have a "Domains" tab anymore. In 4.2 it has
been renamed "Rules".

I just did a test where I installed base Eclipse 3.2 and TPTP 4.2 build
TPTP-4.2.0-200606190100 and it worked as expected. So the build seems to be
fine.
