In an attempt to optimize my ramp-up time, I'm hoping someone can point me
in the right direction. I'm tasked with creating a screen designer as an
eclipse plug-in. The designer will output XML screen definitions for use in
a custom Delphi-based thin client that we have already deployed. The Delphi
client interprets XML and creates native Windows widgets / windows.
I'm trying to decide whether it would be better to build from GEF "up" or to
create another VE implementation.
The Delphi client supports a number of normal native Windows widgets (edit
boxes, labels, panels, combo's, etc.).
One kicker is that we'd like to place some items on the design palette that
would be supplied by a java class called a "transaction". This class would
be created by hand or gen'd from a model and contains metadata about
business data items involved in that particular use case (or transaction).
The screen designer uses this information, allowing these business items to
be dropped onto the screen design surface.
Apologies for newbie-ness.
