XMLMemento missing(?) [message #73487] |

Hello,
First, I know - as RAP is running at the server side - most of the time
it will not be very useful to simply write the content from XMLMemento
into a file at the server. But how about storing the XML data into a
database?
If that is a very bad way to store the view states between sessions for
a specific user, what is the preferred or standard way to solve this
task in a RAP application?
If it is not so bad, what is the reason the XMLMemento - or some other
useful, default implementation - is not part of RAP?
Or am I missing here something very obvious?
Regards,
Christian

Hi,
we are currently working on a solution on the problem. RWT will provide
a mechanism that allows to store userspecific configuration data. On top
of this mechanism we will implement PreferenceStore and if we will find
the time also the XMLMemento.
In default mode the configuration will be written to the filesystem, but
it will be possible to plugin a database storage for cluster capability.
Applications without user-authentications will use cookies to lookup
configuration settings that has been made in a previous session.
Ciao
Frank

Christian,
yes, the PreferenceStore and the underlying facilities are planned
for 1.1 M3. As Frank already said, XMLMemento gets also implemented
if time permits.
Cheers,
Rüdiger
