Make sure you also installed Eclipse SDK (not the RCP, or runtime), EMF
2.0.1, and GEF 3.0.1, and make sure you ran eclipse once with the -clean
option.

OR use the update manager instead, it will tell you what pre-reqs are
required and not allow an install until then, and it makes sure
everything is installed correctly.

I recommend using the update manager when you want to installed released
versions of code.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried everything mentioned in all the
various posts on this subject but without success.

For the record I installed via unzipping the following files:

eclipse-JDT-SDK-3.0.1.zip
eclipse-platform-SDK-3.0.1-win32.zip
emf-sdo-SDK-2.0.1.zip
GEF-SDK-3.0.1.zip
VE-SDK-1.0.1.1.zip

I didn't start eclipse at all until all files were unzipped.
I installed into a new directory and a clean workspace.
I tried -clean.
There were no errors logged.
I also tried with the runtime versions rather than SDKs ... and many other
combinations.
I tried under Linux as well as Windows.
I tried using update manager to install VE.

After many hours I'm about to give up ! Any more ideas ?
