Thoufiq,
Is there a reason you've chosen to hack Ubuntu server instead of running
Ubuntu desktop? I can't say if this is the source of your problems. I
can say I run on Ubuntu server and many Ubuntu desktops. It would never
occur to me to attempt to run GUI stuff on the server despite that it's
in theory possible. If I want X/GUI/GUI apps/etc., clearly it's Ubuntu
server I want. I also run LAMP on Ubuntu desktop, so I know that, while
GUI on server is difficult and challenging, server applications on
desktop are not.
In the specific case of your troubles, I can't say I've ever had them. I
don't personally ever use the SVN perspective, but it is there in all my
Eclipse installations be they Windows or (more frequently) Linux (Ubuntu
in particular). (I work from many locations using Subversion, so I find
myself running a great variety of platforms.)
Just a few thoughts because I think you've made it harder on yourself
than it needs to be.

Hello Russell,
I am the new user of eclipse and i had removed the eclipse-ide fully and downloaded the eclipse helios version from the website http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/helios/R/eclipse-php-helios-linux-gtk.tar.gz . I extracted eclipse-php-helios-linux-gtk.tar.gz file and i got the directory named eclipse, then i run the eclipse using the command ./eclipse and its working fine but still after i installed the subclipse, i cant found the svn perspective in the window menu.
I used this link to install subclipse http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x and the plugins i installed using this link are
CollabNet Merge Client 2.2.3
JNA Library 3.2.7
Subclipse (Required) 1.6.17
Subclipse Integration for Mylyn 3.x (Optional) 3.0.0
Subversion Client Adapter (Required) 1.6.12
Subversion JavaHL Native Library Adapter (Required) 1.6.15
Subversion Revision Graph 1.0.9
SVNKit Client Adapter (Not required) 1.6.15
SVNKit Library 1.3.5.7406
I also tried to install eclipse in my desktop but the same svn perspective cant found in windows menu. I dont know what is the cause for this problem.
I want to install joomla project in eclipse ide for sharing, for that only i am using eclipse helios version.
Pls pls pls....... help me.
