Best way to mirror a p2 respositry [message #670951] Mon, 16 May 2011 06:54 Go to next message

Our Buckminster rmap points to, among other places, some p2 repositories that are hosted externally to our ourganisation.

My boss would like us to mirror some of those external repositories inside our network, so that we are not reliant on someone else's hosting being up, and on us having connectivity to it. Of course we probably wouldn't bother mirroring something like http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/3.6 (!), as that's probably sufficiently reliable already.

So, what's the best way to get a complete copy of a p2 repository for republishing? Should I use something like wget? Is there a smarter way to use the p2 meta-information?

Note that we're only talking about EPL/GPL licenced code, this would be in accord with the licence.

I should have done soem research before I posted. It seems there is a standard procedure - http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. platform.doc.isv/guide/p2_mirror.html. I haven't tried this yet, but it looks like it does what I need.
