Tomcat instalation & CATALINA_BASE [message #66928] Fri, 21 January 2005 13:16 Go to next message

Hi,

Tomcat provides option where a single binary installation can be shared by multiple runtime
instances. To take advantage of that, one needs to tell Tomcat where docroot is, by specifying the
CATALINA_BASE variable. In such setup, it is not required to have conf, webapps and work
directories, as they need to exist in the directory where CATALINA_BASE points to.

In wtp m2, tomcat without all directories is not recognized as valid, and there is no place to
specify what CATALINA_BASE should be.

Would it be possible to add support for this?

If more details are needed I'd be happy to provide them.

Many thanks,
Branko

it is possible to specify this even if its much work... or not so much
if you can get lomboz (not installed just the data)...

I wrote a server config for oc4j... you simply have to get lomboz unpack
it somewhere find the tomcatXYZ.server file and change it to the new
xml-form... examples are in the directory where you finally have to copy
your work to: %eclipse%/plugins/org.eclipse.jst.server.generic_core_1.0.0

Lomboz was using a plain text file the new WTP is all XML so you have to
do some work... but thats the way to get your "custom-catalina"
running... maybe they will fix bugs in the M3 or in one of the
Integration-builds but if you don't want to wait thats your chance... :P
