Hello all, I'm trying to learn how to use eclipse.
I've installed the Europa version along with the IBM Java SDK. I've written a Java application via the Eclipse editor
and now I want to compile it. I;ve created a project. Eclipse can "see" the path to the javac compiler, but I'm unable to
get my program compiled, I have build automatic set ON
I've tried the RUN button, and every other combination.

I keep getting messages such as "unable to launch"
(what ever that means) ..no previous launches

there's another message about missing "pages" (I think)

any suggestions would be most appreciated.

If you're just starting out, why not install modern Eclipse. Europa was
followed by Ganymeade, Galileo and Helios. Indigo is about to be
released. Europa works, but most of the community is eager to support
much later releases in this forum.

Second, use only a Sun JDK unless there's some reason you must use another.

I'd suggest taking a look at

doing a couple of tutorials athttp://www.vogella.de/eclipse.htm

And come back here when you get stuck.

I use IBM JDK everyday, it should not be a problem. Plus Eclipse has its
own compiler so it does not matter if it can see javac or not.

I suspect you need to create a launch configuration, or invoke Run from
the context menu (Right click in the java editor and select run).

Hi Russell & Deepak thanks for your suggestions and
comments.
The Europa version of Eclipse came with the IBM Communications Server 6.4; the system also came with a
JRE, and Java 1.6, and a set of IBM CPI-C API's for Java.
(The reason it was acquired). Unfortunately I really don't
have the time to download and install the latest and greatest version of Eclipse. Since Europa does work,
I'm just trying to learn how to get it compile my source code, and list the output of the compiler. Deepak, I'm very happy that you work with the IBM SDK w/o any problems.
However, that's not the case for me.

However I'll keep "fiddlin'" with it ..

Hi,

I am also trying to do some SNA development using CPIC but can't find the right version of Europa in which is contained the appropriate jars.

Could you point me in the right direction please?
