HI,
i am new to eclipse.
I have been facing a memory issue. Eclipse ends up using hell lot of memory. I understand it since its an ide and needs to accommodate for all the stuffs, but even when i close eclipse the memory does not gets/seems to be free as viewed from system monitor (i am using ubuntu 10.04).
Please clarify whether this is an os related issue or some bug with eclipse and a workaround or fix for the same.

(i started and closed eclipse for a few number of times and each time a significant amount of memory seemed to be consumed. and every time when i closed eclipse a process of name "java" would remain in the process list.)

I am using 3.6.2.

From my observation and understanding the java process (remnant of the eclipse) should end, but it stays ( i guess for the whole session)

Please help!!!
