hello;

I have noticed that there is not an entry for eclipse in my add/remove programs.

I'm confused: how does eclipse run on my OS? it apparently has access to my hard drive b/c it can create files/directories, which I thought was only possible if a piece of software was installed into the OS. but according to various articles eclipse is not. the articles did not describe how eclipse works though.

thanks,
Shannon

Shannon,

Eclipse doesn't install anything into registries or the like. It only
unzips into a folder and then you run it directly from that folder. You
can delete the folder in which you've installed it to get rid of it.

I guess I don't understand how a non-registered 'software' can interact with my OS ( eclipse can create folders on my machine, for example ).

I've never had a software that isn't installed.

You simply copy an executable file onto your machine and can then
execute it.
