32 vs 64-bit IDE? [message #658491]

I am starting Java dev on OS X 10.6, and can't really find any good explanation for whether to use the 32-bit or 64-bit IDE. Is there any drawback to using the 64-bit version? Will I not be able to deploy 32-bit apps? Something else? Thanks for any info.
