On this update site:

http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/3.6

the following categories are available:

Eclipse Platform
Eclipse Platform SDK
Eclipse RCP Target Components
Eclipse SDK
Equinox Target Components
Releng Tools

Any information on what the differences between these categories are? Eg.
what is the difference between: Eclipse Platform SDK and Eclipse SDK.

And why is the Equinox Target Components category empty?

They mirror the way eclipse has always been broken up, similar to a
download page;
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6.2- 201102101200/index.php

Eclipse SDK is everything: PDE, JDT, Platform, and Equinox/OSGi, plus
all source bundles.

Eclipse Platform is Platform and Equinox/OSGi, and Eclipse Platform SDK
is the same + the source bundles.

You would have to read up on the Eclipse Project to find out information
about the different components.

I think Equinox has a different update site, probably
http://download.eclipse.org/equinox/updates/3.6 ?
