I kept digging and discovered that this may have something to do with File Alteration Monitor usage by the tools.
We don't have this installed so the socket's never going to be there.
Is there a way to diable this from the command line?
Previously:
I have correctly installed the JRE (Sun JRE) and eclipse has started fine, but I keep getting these messages:
"Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam"
I do have GTK 2.2 or higher available, but now I'm not sure that this issue is a GTK version issue.
Anyone seen this behavior before and know how to fix it?
The file browser always settles down, but it takes a while.
It seems to be looking for some socket to be at that file and it eventually does without or it takes a long time to get there...
