If you just want to use Subversion with Eclipse and aren't religious
about how you do it, I'd suggest Subclipse instead. (I've also used
Subversive before too, but didn't find that it worked the last time I
tried to install it.) Here's a document that may help:

I setup a SVN repository on a VirtualBox VM running on my laptop. I also have an SVN repository at Assembla (free) and BeanStalk (free). All have worked seamlessly with the Subclipse plugin.
