i'm teaching a class and have ~70 kids who have all successfully installed Python (2.7) , Eclipse (Helios), and PyDev (1.6.3), following my instructions.
but exactly one student on a Windoz7 platform gets it all in place, gets the PyDev plugin installed, restarts, ... but then has none of the PyDev functionality?! eg, File > New > does not provide Python alternatives; PyDev preferences are not in among the other preferences... But looking at About Eclipse shows the plugin loaded? i'm baffled; how could this be?!
this would seem to be an Update Manager issue. is there a special forum for this facility?
what log file might leave a trace that could give a clue?
