OSEE 0.9.8 [message #644858] Tue, 14 December 2010 08:55 Go to next message

Do you guys have some kind of plan for implementing things in OSEE? In GIT repository you already have branch for version 0.9.8 development while every other source (this forum, wiki, main page, etc) is about half year late and tells about release 0.9.4 in a best case.
It's really interesting to know what features were implemented since 0.9.4 and what features are currently under development. As I see, H2 was selected as a "main" DB engine for the project. Cross branch linking was added since 0.9.4. There's must be a lot of other changes.

In addition, I'd like to ask you a question: is it possible to contribute to the project? At least, we'd like to translate OSEE framework to Russian. To do so we need to have things externalized first. Can we make it by ourselves and then just "commit" changes to OSEE development branch? Is there someone who mentoring the project? How to get his approval?

Thank you!

Hi Sergey,

The Wiki provides links ( http://wiki.eclipse.org/OSEE/Users_Guide/Getting_Started#Ecl ipse_Installation) to the latest release of OSEE, which is currently 0.9.8. An H2 demo version can be up and running within 5 minutes of completing the client installation (using the update site) into Eclipse 3.6 and downloading the server.

I am not one of the developers. I believe, however, that developer questions should be posed using the mailing list (https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/osee-dev).

As described on the Wiki, Don Dunne and Ryan Brooks are the project leads. There is a well-established mechanism for requesting enhancements via https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=OSEE and I would imagine that would be the starting point for an externalisation request - if you were accepted onto the development team, you could then be assigned the work.

All the best,

Mark
