Hi,

I am starting with RAP - I installed all RAP packages I found into my Eclipse workbench and also the target platform in separate directory. I created new project using the template "Hallo world" and wanted to run it - but there are syntax errors in it. The bundle "org.eclipse.rap.ui", which seems to be a prerequisite is not installed in my Workbench. I tried updates, newer version, everything - no success.

Currently I have installed:
Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) Tooling - 1.3.1.20100916-0013

Do I need anything else?

Thank you
Richard

Hi Richard,
the easiest way to start with RAP application development is to download
the package " Eclipse for RCP and RAP Developers
< http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-rcp-and-ra p-developers/heliossr1>"
from [1].
The second step is to install and switch the RAP target platform. To do
this, open Eclipse Welcome page, select Overview, Rich Ajax Platform
(RAP), Install Target Platform. Make sure that "Switch the target
after..." checkbox is selected. Now the new project created from Hello
world template should work.

Hi Ivan,

thanks for the fast response!
So you suggesting me forgetting my current Eclipse Workbench and install a second one? I hope I could run all my project from the same one...pity.

In the meantime I managed to get rid of the syntax errors - apparently I didn't save the target platform setting in my preferences. But now I am getting HTTP 404...

Any suggestions about this one?

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,
of course, it's possible to use your existing Eclipse IDE. You have to
install on it "Rich Ajax Platform (RAP Tooling)" from Helios update site.
Second step - install and switch the target platform is the same like in
previous post.
The 404 error is a known issue. See bug:
282756: [Tooling] Browser is opened too early
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=282756
If you get 404 error, refresh the browser.

Ivan
