Performance issue when moving borderitems [message #631346]

I have a diagram with components and ports.
The ports which are border items are children of the components. When I move ports using Node.setLayoutConstraint() , my system hangs for a very large design (around 60 components and 1500 ports). While for smaller diagrams it works fine.
Is moving borderitems like this a costly operation?
Is there any workaround?
