Hi all!
Sometimes the Visual Editor Reverse Parser thread gets deadlocked with
the Eclipse Saving File Thread.
I'm not sure if this list is the proper place, should I open a bug? How
can I do that?
Activating the deadlock:
1) Set the Visual Editor Source Synchronization Delay to the minimum
(1000ms);
2) Open a class that gets rendered in VE;
3) Put the cursor in an empty line in a method that gets parsed by VE;
4) Type some text and save the file, and then type other text and save
the file again not waiting for activity to stop, like: space -> Save
(Ctrl-S) -> space -> Save (Ctrl-S) -> space -> Save (Ctrl-S) -> space ->
Save (Ctrl-S) -> space -> Save (Ctrl-S) -> space -> Save (Ctrl-S) ->
until it blocks!
5) Killing the save thread gives Eclipse control back to you, but things
get weird and it's better to restart the IDE.
My setup is:
Linux Fedora Core 4
Eclipse 3.1.1 (32 Bits) (bug present in 3.1 also)
JDK 1.5 Update 5 (bug present in Update 4 also)
VE 1.1.0.1
I'm attaching a screenshot!
Thanks,
Z
