Blue-screen on WinXP after premature halt of runtime-eclipse [message #59862] Mon, 02 June 2003 20:26

Eclipse running; start the runtime-eclipse -- just afterthe javaw.exe
has started (and the splash screen has appeared) but before the Debug
View shows the org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main, hit the "Kremlin" (red
square) button on the Debug View -- the runtime eclipse indeed stops,
but the splash screen remains. Stop the main eclipse in the normal way.

Investigate via WinTaskManager, and discover there is still an
eclipse.exe running; kill it.

Restart Windows, in the normal way. (why? paranoia, obviously)

Thereafter, when single-stepping in the Eclipse debugger twice get
blue-screens; also frequently get weird java crashes involving
call-stacks with many "null" stack frames.

Rename the old eclipse directory, and reinstall eclipse ... so far, so
good ... (none of those weird java crashes, even when running the same
java-code; no blue-screens, even when single-stepping)
