Eclipse Hangs After Installing AJDT [message #588026] Thu, 12 May 2005 17:34

Hi,

I'm running Eclipse 3.0.2 on Win2K Prof. I Installed AJDT via its update
site. However, after install, Eclipse starts up, but then hangs on any
activity.

For example:

1) start eclipse
2) select new Java Project; java project wizard appears
3) enter project name; click next

HANGS: I get a dialog titled "User Operation Is Waiting"; inside I see "New
Java Project" as a task, with a cancel button; of course, if I cancel, the
project does not get created.

I've tried letting this dialog stay up, waiting to complete, even overnight,
but it doesn't complete.

I tried restarting Eclipse with -clean; no difference.
I increased Eclipse vm memory via eclipse.exe -vmargs -mx1024m; still no
difference

I can't even expand Java project nodes in Package Explorer; when I try, I
get that dreaded "User Operation..." dialog. However, this seems to affect
just Java- and Java-related projects, since I *am* able to expand non-Java
projects (Jython projects, PHP projects, etc)

If I uninstall or disable AJDT, these problems go away. When I reinstall or
enable, the reappear.

Would somebody enlighten me, please?

Thanx
