I have 2 years experience with the Eclipse IDE for various programming
tasks involving Python and web programming. I am now facing a large
project involving *database* development with Sybase ASE (primarily
version 15.x, but it will also be necessary to deal with 12.x).

I have been eagerly following the development of the DTP project, and
now with the recent v1.5.0 release, I decided to try using it to connect
to both a Sybase ASE 12.x server and a Sybase ASE 15.x server using
Sybases's own Jconnect 6.05 JDBC driver.

My experience when I try this is that I can connect to a Sybase ASE 12.x
server, but not all of its resources can be browsed properly.

But I cannot connect at all to a Sybase ASE 15.x server. When I try
this I receive the error:

JZ006: Caught IOException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection
refused: connect

My question is simple: Does the current DTP v1.5.0 support connections
to Sybase ASE 12.x & 15.x servers? According to the documentation I
have found, e.g., http://wiki.eclipse.org/DTP_1.5_Project_Plan , this
seems to be true. But perhaps this support did not make it into v1.5.0
and will make it in during a later 1.5.x release???

More generally, I would like to know what is the general level of
support for Sybase ASE connections with DTP. Just point me towards a
web resource if one exists - I have looked, but I have not located anything.

If I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE to connect and view most of the resources on
the v12.x and 15.x servers, can someone point me towards a resource can
will help me pin down my problem? I am new to Sybase, but have access
to Sybase experts here; unfortunately, they have no Eclipse experience.

Thanks *very much* in advance.
