can't share, import/export RSE profiles [message #583308] |

I have been looking to see if there is a way that one can share RSE profiles besides copying the contents of:
%workspace%\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.rse.core\profiles \%profile_name%
When I reinstall eclipse or configure a machine for a new developer, I want them to have a set of company wide user defined actions, connections and filters. Some forums talk about copying anything under RemoteSystemConnections project in the workspace, but apparently that is not in the workspace anymore, probably was there in earlier versions of Eclipse.
Anybody can give me some direction? Would very much appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Right now that is the only way to share a whole profile. DSDP/TM added
the ability to export a connection and its filters a few releases ago.
We're now beginning to get more interest for more flexible
export/import options, including the ability to export the property
sets used to define user-defined actions. This will likely involve new
export and import wizards for profiles. There are several bugzilla
items that relate to this:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=277163
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=277162
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=238156
The data kept in the RemoteSystemsConnections project was moved from
the workspace to the metadata area when IBM contributed RSE to eclipse
project. There were locking problems associated with keeping it in the
workspace that would have forced several long running operations into
the foreground.
