Dear friends,
May be, this project is not exact match for my request, but I failed to find
more appropriate place anyway.
As number of Eclipse projects grows pretty quickly, and the environment becomes
very fast moving (more projects added, some project closed), it is hard to find
what is available for use at any particular moment.
Different projects use different update sites, they use different URLs, and some
of these URLs are even broken. Also, it is not easy for many projects to find
the update site URL on their web pages if they exist.
Is it possible to establish a common policy on update site use, and on where the
URL should be located on project's main (or, may be, on the download) page.
I'd say, if every project followed the same update site structure, providing,
say, 3 URLs for final releases, for milestone releases, and for itegration
releases, like<project_name>/releases/update-site/site.xml<project_name>/milestones/update-site/site.xml<project_name>/interim/update-site/site.xml
and placed these URLs in the menu located at the right side of a project's main
page, it would be very convenient for everybody.
Or, may be, providing a link to the Eclipse wise bookmarks.xml listing all
update sites for all Eclipse projects would be even better approach.
You could even provide 3 separate files listing only release sites, only
milestone sites, and only interim release sites.
Everybody would be able to import the files needed, to remove dead project
sites, and to update their Eclipse installation easily.
