The IBM Ottawa Software Lab is a thriving R&D community with a small-town

The Rational Modeling Platform team is one of the world's best positioned
set of people to make a key difference in the advancement of analysis and
design tools within the software industry. Our extremely talented team is
responsible for a set of very successful open source projects and IBM
internal technologies built on the Eclipse platform. These technologies
are used by Rational Software Architect and other IBM Eclipse based
applications. The group manages Eclipse open source projects EMF (Eclipse
Modeling Framework), GEF (Graphical Editing Framework), GMF (Graphical
Modeling Framework), and EMFT (Eclipse Modeling Framework Technology), as
well as other Rational Modeling Platform components.
Our team is looking for a top-talent Java developers who have the desire
to make a significant contribution to the software development industry
through the creation of groundbreaking visual modeling tools and
techniques.
We are currently looking for a Java Developer with top Java development
skills. You will have solid object oriented design, analysis,
implementation and debugging skills. The development environment is
Eclipse-based running on a mixture of Windows and Linux boxes. You will be
working in a small pragmatic team environment developing production code.
We are looking for self-starters who do not fear learning new
technologies nor fear challenges.
Additional responsibilities include: the investigation of new
technologies, engaging with other software engineers across IBM and the
Eclipse community to resolve design issues, working with your manager and
peers to help define features, provide estimate work effort, and complete
assignments on time with quality. The candidate is expected to take
initiative and ownership of certain areas responsibility.
Qualifications
You must have the following skills/experience:
Object oriented programming- 2+ years recent experience
Java programming- 2+ years recent experience
Analysis, implementation and debugging skills- 2+ years recent experience
Outstanding communication and inter personal skills
Team player
Other Skills (desired, not required):
Eclipse plug-in development
Eclipse technology experience such as GEF, EMF, GMF, EMFT
Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Domain Specific Modeling (DSM)
Model Driven Development (MDD)
