'null' is null or not an object [message #548979] Fri, 23 July 2010 11:17 Go to next message

Hi,

We've developed a Rap 1.2.2 application. Periodically we get the following error message in the brower (IE 6.0SP2).

Could not evaluate javascript response:

'null' is null or not an object

Has anyone had this error before, if so, how did you resolve it.

Hi, Graham.

Probably this cause tomcat compression is enabled. Look here for details http://www.eclipse.org/rap/noteworthy/1.3/news_M2.php.

Best regards,
Yury.

Thanks for the response. Last week I tried disabling the compression. Our app is running with Jetty and not in Tomcat. We still had the same problem. The compression flag didn't help.

Graham,

this kind of error is difficult to track. Can you isolate the widget
that causes the error or can you provide a code snippet to reproduce?
Have you tried RAP 1.3, does the problem persist?
Can you provide the Javascript response that leads to this error?
Please file a bugzilla with further information.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I'm currently trying to deploy to RAP 1.3 to see if the problem persists. It is very difficult to reproduce. I haven't been able as of yet. It seems to happen on very high load and only once out of every few thousand requests.

Thanks,
Graham
