So what about the 1.0 release? [message #548778] Thu, 22 July 2010 19:28

Some of you may be wondering when you could expect the first Sapphire release (aka 1.0). Because it is the first release, there isn't a specific date in mind. A few things must happen before the 1.0 release can be made...

1. The initial code contribution must fully pass Eclipse Foundation's IP approval process.
2. The API is ready to be frozen and API policy has been defined.
3. The documentation is complete, including javadoc for all API classes.
4. There must be at least one adopter of Sapphire outside of Oracle. This could be another project at Eclipse or another company's product. The adopter feature does not need to be fully finished, but sufficient progress on the feature must have been made.

The rest of the content of the 1.0 release, including enhancements on top of initial Oracle contribution, will be guided by community needs. So if you are interested in this technology and have a feature in mind where you can leverage Sapphire, it would be in your best interest to engage as early as possible by playing around with milestone builds and giving feedback.
