Possible bug in deleting a db connection profile [message #539337] Thu, 10 June 2010 09:26 Go to next message

Where do the details for a database connection profile in the data source explorer get stored?

Searching my workspace for the connection profile name I see it is stored in the file (along with others that had been previously deleted): workspace\.metadata\.plugins\workbench.xml

We've noticed that if you delete a database connection profile it isn't possible to create a new one with the same name. Even after several Eclipse re-starts.

If it's deleted properly then this should work.

Is this a bug?

That's very strange.

Connection profiles are stored in the .metadata directory for
connectivity (so
[workspace]/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.datatools.connect ivity) in a
file called ServerProfiles.dat. When profiles are created or deleted,
you should see that file change. I'm able to create and delete and
recreate a Derby profile as many times as I'd like in my workspace this
morning (Eclipse 3.6 RC3 with the latest DTP 1.8 build for Helios).

Are you seeing anything appearing in your log? Anything in your console?
What operating system? (I'm currently on Linux)
