hello

I am transforming a uml model with a profile application to standard uml with many modifications in almost all assocations and classes,

is this case refinement due to the unified metamodel for src and target models or transformation

As I have recently learned, you cannot delete model elements in a refinement. So if you want to replace elements by other elements, you should probably use a regular transformation (and maybe superimpose on the UML2Copy transformation). If you only add model elements and change primitive type attributes a refining transformation should be the way to go.
