Java Structure Compare window missing [message #534995] Thu, 20 May 2010 19:22 Go to next message

Hi,

I've just upgraded from Eclipse 3.2 to Eclipse Java IDE (Galileo), with the CDT added (the sysadmin didn't use Install New Software).

When I synchronize and then double click to compare, the comparison comes up without the Java Structure Compare at the top, and there is no way to open it.

I checked "Open structure compare automatically" under General -> Compare/Patch in the Preferences, which was unchecked, even though its supposed to default to on.

I've looked around in Install New Software and installed anything that looks related to JDT.

My current workaround is to exit from 3.5 and run 3.2 when I want to check in.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or been able to fix it?

Thanks!

Sue

Hi Sue,

sometimes the Source Compare is hidden at the bottom of the compare
view. So if you see "Java Source Compare" at the bottom, simply move it
up a little.
Hope this helps.

Sorry but this does not help. The Source Compare is there.

The Java Structure Compare window is missing. Perhaps they removed this extremely useful feature since 3.2, making much harder to check in extensively modified large files. But they still have an option about it the preferences.

Oh sorry, I misread the text. I thought the source compare is missing.

No, it's definitely there. Try to double click on the "Java Source
Compare"-Text.

Norbert,

You are right it is there. It showed up when I turned off Preferences -> General -> Compare/Patch -> Show structure compare in Outline view when possible. Which is wierd.

Yey! Very Happy

Thanks!
