I have downloaded the 2.5.2 release of BIRT RCP and cannot find the SQL Query Builder. When I add a new datasource that particular flavor is missing. I added in the code for the latest DTP but that had no effect. Others have reported that 2.5.2 has it built in but I cannot seem to activate it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Byron,

Can you try the allinone? This may be a bug in the RCP version.

I installed the All-in-one 2.3.2 version. With this I still am not getting the data source that is used for the SQL Query Builder.

I tried repeatedly to find the SQL Query Builder and connection and it failed.

Any other ideas?

Byron,

To use the SQB in 2.5.2, you have to first create the data source from a connection profile (the second option in the New Data Source dialog).
It has been enhanced in 2.6 to allow creating a local data source directly for the "JDBC Database Connection for Query Builder" type.

BTW, SQB is not supported by the BIRT RCP appl. due to its dependency on IDE plugins.

Thanks, it now works. It would be nice if the RCP version had it in as I need to give this to my clients for creating their own reports and the query builder is much easier for them to understand. I don't need or use it but they could use it and be much more effective. I guess the 100 MB extra is worth it.

The instructions I have seen for doing this were not good, your simple explanation was good.

Can you open a bug to get this in the RCP designer?
