Hi

I need to plot data for some time series data and super-impose model on the data.

The model has much more points then the original time series (since otherwise it will not look smooth).

How can I plot these 2 series in same plot ?

I failed to see any example in documentation; the plots with 2 series always assume same number of points.

All series must have the same number of points, but using some scripting
you can always put null point values in for the ones you do not have.
If you can generate csv data and post it I can build you an example.

Well I tried filling the other dataset with null values , but then the model fitting was not looking very nice.

What you are saying is that using some sort of event mechanism to cater for missing value will be better option?


I will try to generate CSV and put it on the post.

When you post the csv explain how you want the chart to look.

Hi Jason

I am adding the datasets here. The first one is a light curve with phase on x axis, and magnitude on Y. The second one is a model of the light curve e.g. modeled phase on x-axis, and modeled magnitude on Y.

Naturally model has much more data points as otherwise the fitting would not look good.

And what I need to do is to plot these 2 curves in superimposed style.

Neerahi,

Charts can only be tied to one dataset. If you are getting this data
into BIRT from csv files, can you create one csv file with this format:

phase1, mag1, phase2, mag2 newline

You can build joint datasets that combine datasets, but for csv this is
a bit slower. So you could have

file one
phase1, mag1 newline

file two
phase2, mag2, newline

Can you create one of the scenarios above and email to me at
jasonweathersby at windstream dot net?
