Hi,

now and then eclipse (3.5) asks me if I want to send usage data to help improve the IDE. So I say to myself, sure, why not, and up until today there were no problems with this. But after I agreed to send usage data today, eclipse froze up and I cant do anything about it. I already tried rebooting my pc, no use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanx

Robert

So I found some kind of a "solution".

1. start eclipse with no connection to the internet.
2. if you start eclipse while connected to the internet, disable your network connection for a while and eclipse will be responding again.

But still, is there a real solution to this problem? Am I the only one experiencing this type of difficulties?

Haven't run into that myself (and was using Eclipse all day). But in
general, if you run into a deadlock or freeze kind of problem, you can
approach it this way: http://wiki.eclipse.org/How_to_report_a_deadlock

I encountered the same problems on MacOSX Snow Leopard and Eclipse Version: 3.5.1 (Yoxos Distribution), so: you are not alone ;)

Thanks for the hint,

Not sure if this will work for everyone. To resolve this issue, I deleted the log files and the lock file in the workspace while eclipse was off. Restarted eclipse and the problem was gone.
